Eighth grade students at Founders' Hall receive a 12 week cycle of instruction that focuses on a variety of hands-on activities. Students use their creativity and imagination to test their engineering skills on physics –based activities.  Hands-on activities include bridge building and construction of CO2 cars.  In addition, they will learn about a variety of civil engineers and their contributions to society.  In addition, they will have the opportunity to use their skills to build a wood-based project.
 

Computer Science

The seventh grade computer science students are introduced to keyboarding utilizing the Mave's Beacon Teaches Typing program.  Students also experience working in Microsoft Word and searching the internet. During the 12 week course, students will also discuss cyberbullying, online safety, and complete online career portfolios.

 The eighth grade computer science students begin with a review of keyboarding.  They progress through the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint creating projects using each.  Students learn to use the internet to search,complete research, and cite their sources for academic papers.  The 12 week course culminates with a cybersafety review and a final oral PowerPoint presentation concerning a career of their choice.
