Chess Club

Advisor: Brad Braverman

Chess is a mind challenginggame that requires tenacity with strategy to capture an opponent's King andcall "checkmate." The McKeesport Area High School Chess Clubpresently meets during every open homeroom period when students get to practiceand compete against one another. Two in-house competitions, with cash prizes, are held during the year. Students who become particularly proficient in thegame will have an opportunity to compete at a local tournament. Students willalso compete against computer generated opponents. There are no specialrequirements to join, just have a love for the game or want to learn the game. It's a great way to stretch those mental dendrites.
