Dr. Mark P. Holtzman, Superintendent
It is with great pride that I write to introduce myself. Along with serving as Superintendent of McKeesport Area School District, I am a husband and proud father of two handsome sons and two beautiful daughters. I am a graduate of McKeesport Area High School class of 1997. I started my post-secondary education at Syracuse University, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. I returned to McKeesport Area High School as varsity assistant football coach in 2002. Soon after coaching, I began to pursue my secondary teaching certificate in social studies and my first Master’s Degree in Secondary Education at Duquesne University. After completing my student teaching at McKeesport Area High School, I began my career as a substitute teacher. While working as a Dean of Students at the high school, I decided to pursue a second Master’s degree in School Administration and Supervision. Receving my Principal’s Certification from Duquesne University. During the much publicized mandated high school merger between West Mifflin Area High School, East Allegheny, and Duquesne High School, I was recruited to West Mifflin High School to ensure a smooth transition for students and staff. Upon returning to the McKeesport Area School District I served as high school principal for 5 years and the Director of Secondary Education and Teacher Evaluation for 2 years. I was awarded my doctoral degree by the University of Pittsburgh in November 2014. I am extremely proud to lead the McKeesport Area School District and represent my alma mater.
