Curriculum
Our Pre-Kindergarten utilizes a curriculum called FunShine Express. FunShine Express is a comprehensive research-based program that covers all of the academic subject areas using a thematic and integrated syllabus. The specific program that the staff teaches daily from FunShine Express is called Fireflies. FunShine Express Fire Flies is specifically for preschoolers from ages three to five.
The program includes open ended activities and materials that build a learning community. The students are given many opportunities to learn through touch, smell, taste, vision and hearing. Research states that children learn best when information is provided through their senses. As the year progresses, the themes in this early-learning program broaden, and children begin to understand more about the world around them. Ultimately, all Funshine Express activities are designed to create an enthusiasm for learning and to build school readiness skills.
