Newspaper Staff
The Founders’ Hall Press consists of 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in writing, taking pictures, drawing and communicating with the public. Topics of articles range from school, local, and world news. There is even a section with horoscopes, recipes and hand drawn comics! Being a part of this organization makes students not only better writers, but also better communicators with their elders and peers.
Student Council
Founders’ Hall Student Council is a great way for students to get involved! Our student council is made up of representatives from each homeroom. Each representative is responsible for sharing information and encouraging everyone to get involved with upcoming events. Student Council encourages school spirit and community service throughout the building. We are involved with the following: Spirit Week, Annual Food Drive for our local Salvation Army, Field trips to Volunteer at our local Food Bank, Holiday Spirit Activities, Children’s Hospital Free Care Fundraiser, American Heart Association Annual Red Out Day, Make a Wish Foundation Fundraisers, Activities to support our local Veterans, and Positive School Programs. Student Council works all year to raise funds to provide our 8th graders with their end of the year party that takes place at White Oak Pool.
Yearbook
Seventh and eighth grade students are eligible to be on the school yearbook staff. The staff meets during scheduled times in homeroom and sometimes after school throughout the year to help plan, sell, market, and create our school yearbook. Students are able to participate in traditions such as:
- Choosing the cover
- Taking pictures throughout the school year of special events and classroom happenings
- Helping design the finished book online
- Deciding the theme and vision of the book
- Assisting the advisor with school and group picture days
This activity group provides students with a glimpse of what the high school yearbook staff does to create the historic Yough-a-Mon.
