Secondary
In the McKeesport Area School District, the curriculum in grades 6-12 is the pathway to the next phase of a student's life - whether it be further education or going into the workforce. Our curriculum is a roadmap to success for learners at Founders Hall Middle School, McKeesport Area High School, and McKeesport Area Technology Center.
The goals for our secondary school experience include demonstration of reading, writing, mathematics, and speaking skills, along with knowledge of work ethics, social skills, cultural differences and problem solving. We also want students to explore the arts, engage in physical education, and become aware of the importance of technology, cooperation, and global competition.
Our curriculum ensures that students will develop as individuals, engage in creative thinking, and prepare to enter the job market as they create opportunities for themselves and their community. We believe learning is continuous - even after students receive an MASD diploma - and our coursework emphasizes that point. MASD students are lifelong learners, and an education in this district means that wherever our students go, they are: "Once a Tiger, always a Tiger."
