Access to technology is very important for our students as a large amount of learning resources and materials can be accessed digitally. For the 2023-2024 school year, the McKeesport Area School District will continue to promote a one-to-one Chromebook or personal computer use for students in grades 2-12.

Students in grades 2-12 may elect to either bring their own Chromebook or personal computer to school for academic use or use a district-issued Chromebook. District issued Chromebooks will be available to students in grades 2-12 by request.  The lending program is offered by request and will not require mandatory participation.  Students in grades kindergarten and first grade will use district provided iPads at school only. Students in all other grades will be encouraged to use devices at home and school.

Chromebook distribution will take place on the following dates:

Wednesday, August 16th 2023 for all Senior High and Founders Hall students from 3pm-6pm at the High School Auditorium

Thursday, August 17th 2023 for all Senior High and Founders Hall students from 3pm-5pm at the High School Auditorium

*Cyber students, regardless of grade level, may pick up their devices on the 16th and 17th as well.

*Elementary devices will not be given out at this time.  Elementary devices will be distributed within each elementary building during the first 2 weeks of school.

If you are unable to attend one of the distributions, Chromebooks will be available upon request after the start of school starting on August 21st for students who participated in the Chromebook lending program in the 2022-2023 school year and starting August 30th for students new to the lending program.

For students wishing to bring their own device, the devices will be the sole responsibility of the student and the District will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged devices, software or data. Students participating in the Bring Your Own Device program will need to complete a permission/agreement form located at:

    https://sites.google.com/mckasd.net/byod

Additionally, the district will not provide technical support for any non-District owned devices.  McKeesport Area School District employees are not permitted to install any software on any non-District owned device.

We thank you for your support as we strive to provide all students with access to technology. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.
