The Charles Lickert Memorial Award is presented annually to a senior male and female athlete that has participated in more than one varsity sport while at McKeesport Area High School. Athletes must nominate themselves for the award and the selection of the award recipients is voted upon by all district coaches.
Charles Lickert was a former McKeesport Area High School athlete who was killed in an automobile accident on August 29, 1980 along East Fifth Avenue in McKeesport. Shortly thereafter, the award was created by the late Bill Lickert to forever honor his son.
At that time, the school district also retired the #11 from the football program in honor of Chuck.
