Chess Club
Advisor: Ray Beard

Chess is a mind challenging game that requires tenacity with strategy to capture an opponent's King and call "checkmate." The McKeesport Area High School Chess Club presently meets during every open homeroom period when students get to practice and compete against one another. Two in-house competitions, with cash prizes, are held during the year. Students who become particularly proficient in the game will have an opportunity to compete at a local tournament. Students will also compete against computer generated opponents. There are no special requirements to join, just have a love for the game or want to learn the game. It's a great way to stretch those mental dendrites.
